Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 28, 2026

Docsio ("we", "us", "our") operates the docsio.co website and documentation platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address (from Google OAuth sign-in)
  • Display name and profile photo (from your Google account)
  • Company name (optionally provided by you)

Website Data You Provide

When you create a documentation project, you provide a website URL. We then:

  • Scrape publicly accessible pages from that URL to extract product information, features, and brand identity (colors, logos, fonts)
  • Store the extracted text and metadata in our database
  • Process this content through AI models to generate documentation

We only scrape publicly accessible content. We do not access password-protected pages, private APIs, or content behind authentication.

Uploaded Files

You may upload files (documents, images) to enhance your documentation. These are stored securely and associated with your project.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other payment credentials. We receive from Stripe: your subscription status, billing period dates, and a customer identifier.

Usage Data

We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is used for security, debugging, and improving the service.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the Docsio service: generating, editing, previewing, and publishing documentation sites
  • To authenticate your account and manage your subscription
  • To process your website content through AI models for documentation generation
  • To host and serve your published documentation sites
  • To communicate with you about your account, service updates, or support requests
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or security issues

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Docsio:

  • Cloud database and storage — stores your account data, project content, and uploaded files. Hosted with encryption at rest.
  • Google (authentication) — we use Google sign-in for account creation. We receive your email, name, and profile photo. We do not access your Google Drive, Gmail, or other Google services.
  • Stripe (payment processing) — handles all payment transactions for paid plans. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Vercel (application hosting) — hosts the Docsio application and provides isolated environments for building and previewing documentation sites.
  • AI language models (content generation) — your website content is sent to AI models to generate documentation. Content is used solely for generating your documentation and is not used to train models.
  • Web scraping service — used to crawl and extract content from the website URLs you provide.

4. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained as long as your account is active.
  • Project data (documents, scraped content, uploaded files, published sites) is retained as long as the project exists.
  • When you delete a project, all associated data (documents, files, scraped content, build history, and the published site) is permanently deleted.
  • When you delete your account, all data is permanently deleted via database cascade.
  • Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.

5. Data Security

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
  • Database access is protected by row-level security policies. Users can only access their own data.
  • Subscription and billing data is read-only for users. Only our server-side webhook handler (authenticated by Stripe) can modify billing records.
  • Published documentation sites are served over HTTPS with automatic SSL certificates.
  • Sandbox environments used for building and previewing sites are isolated and ephemeral.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data through your account dashboard
  • Edit your profile information and project content at any time
  • Delete individual projects (which removes all associated data) or your entire account
  • Export your documentation content (available through the editor)
  • Cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal

For any data-related requests, contact us at privacy@docsio.co.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies only:

  • Authentication session cookies (required for login)
  • No advertising cookies
  • No third-party tracking cookies

8. Children

Docsio is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
