From a URL

This is the fastest path to a working docs site. Paste a URL, get a complete branded site five minutes later.

When to use it

Use From a URL if your product already has a public website with content the docs can be derived from — landing page, feature pages, pricing, blog. Docsio reads that content and turns it into structured documentation.

If you don't have a public site yet, or your docs need to come from internal-only sources (PRDs, transcripts, a wiki), use From your files instead.

What you get

In about five minutes Docsio produces:

  • Every page populated with real product information scraped from your site

What Docsio does, step by step

  1. Extracts your brand. Reads your site's CSS variables, downloads your logo and favicon, picks up the fonts you use, and pulls a primary color. Applied to your docs site automatically.

  2. Maps your site. Walks every page reachable from the URL you gave us, up to about a hundred pages, and decides which ones contain real product info worth turning into docs.

  3. Scrapes the useful pages. Reads the cleaned content of each — no nav, no footer, no chrome — into a structured form the AI can work with.

  4. Plans the documentation. Decides the categories (Getting Started, Features, Integrations, etc.) and the pages inside each based on what your product actually does.

  5. Writes every page with real content. Not placeholder text — actual sentences derived from what was on your site, restructured into the documentation voice.

  6. Builds the homepage and audit. Creates a landing page with hero, features, and guide cards. Then runs an audit to fix placeholders, broken links, and missing content.

What if my site doesn't have much content?

Docsio still tries — but the result is only as good as the input. If your landing page is one paragraph and a sign-up form, the docs will be thin. Two ways around it:

  • Add files. Even after URL generation, drag PRDs or specs into the editor. The AI agent uses them to flesh things out.
  • Talk to the agent. "Write a Getting Started page covering account setup, first project, and inviting teammates" — it will write what you ask.

What about my logo and brand colors?

You'll see them applied automatically. To change anything later, see Branding.

If brand extraction picked the wrong colors or a placeholder logo, the AI agent fixes it instantly:

"Use my actual logo from https://acme.com/logo.svg and set primary color to #5B6CFF."
