From your files
Build a documentation draft from Markdown, PDFs, product notes and other supported source files.
Use source files when your product information lives in internal notes, existing Markdown, PDFs or API specifications. Docsio proposes a structure first, then builds the pages after you approve it.
Supported formats
| Source | Formats |
|---|---|
| Written documentation | Markdown, MDX, plain text, HTML |
| Documents | |
| Structured material | JSON, YAML, CSV, XML and text-based code files |
| Images | PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and SVG |
Word, Excel and PowerPoint files are not supported directly. Export them to PDF or copy the relevant text first. ZIP archives and a whole folder upload are not substitutes for selecting supported files.
Keep the initial upload below 2.8 MB total, with at most 20 attachments. Source text also has a size limit; if the form asks you to reduce it, select the sections needed for the first draft and add other material later.
How it works
- Choose From Documents and enter a project name.
- Upload or drop your source files into the file area.
- Add instructions about the audience, scope and anything to exclude.
- Optionally provide a Brand URL for colors and logo.
- Create the project and review the agent's proposed structure.
Plan-mode approval
The agent proposes a categorized outline before generating the site. Ask for changes if it misses a topic, repeats material or includes something that should remain private. Approve the plan when the structure is right.
Once approved, the agent writes the pages and updates the preview. Review the content before publishing, including facts extracted from tables, diagrams and screenshots.
Tips for best results
- Give the agent current source material and explain which file takes priority when sources disagree.
- Include real setup steps and examples, not just feature names.
- Remove secrets and private customer information before uploading.
- Split very large documents into focused sections.
Mixed mode (URL + files)
You can add files in the agent conversation after creating a site from a URL. Tell the agent where the new information belongs and which existing content to keep.
