Pages and navigation
Create pages, group related topics and arrange documentation navigation.
Documentation pages live under docs/. Use folders for related topics and navigation files to decide how readers move through them.
Add a page
Ask the agent to add a page and describe its content, audience and location. You can also create or edit a Markdown or MDX file in the file tree.
docs/quickstart.mdx becomes /docs/quickstart on a current Docsio site. A folder's index.mdx is its landing page. Start the file with a title and description:
---
title: Quickstart
description: Set up your first project.
---
## Before you begin
Gather the information needed for setup.Organize sections
Use meta.json within each folder to set a readable title and page order:
{
"title": "Getting started",
"pages": ["index", "quickstart", "installation"]
}Create the pages listed in navigation before linking to them. A folder alone does not create a useful section introduction.
Move or rename content
Check inbound links and navigation entries when changing a file path. A title change can keep the URL intact; moving the file usually cannot. Ask the agent to find references before reorganizing a published site.
Existing sites
Older sites can use a different file structure. Keep their existing conventions when editing them. The agent can inspect the project before applying a change; you do not need to replace the site's template to update its content.
