Versions and publication history
Review earlier publications and maintain named documentation versions.
Docsio has two kinds of history: saved publications for recovery, and named documentation versions for readers using different product releases.
Publication history
Open the history control in the editor to inspect saved publications. Choose a snapshot and preview it before selecting Restore. A restore builds and publishes that snapshot; confirm the operation succeeds and check the live site.
Save a copy of newer content you still need before restoring an older publication. Restoring documentation is not a rollback of your billing, DNS or external repository settings.
Named documentation versions
Use Tag Doc Version from the editor toolbar to freeze the current docs under a name such as 1.0. Names can contain letters, numbers, dots, underscores and hyphens. Each name must be unique.
Publish after creating the version so readers can open it alongside the current docs. Current sites store these pages under versioned_docs/ and use URLs under /docs/versions/NAME.
Continue editing the current documentation for new releases. Changes to current pages do not automatically update the tagged copy. Check links, navigation and search within each edition you keep available.
Which one should I use?
| Need | Use |
|---|---|
| Recover a previous published state | Publication history |
| Support customers on an older API or product release | Named documentation version |
| Fix a typo in current docs | Edit and publish normally |
