Reader MCP

Let AI tools read your published public documentation.

Reader MCP lets visitors connect an AI assistant to your published documentation. It is public and read-only.

Enable the connection

  1. Publish your documentation.
  2. Open Settings → MCP and enable the MCP Server in the Reader MCP section.
  3. Copy the URL or client snippet shown in settings.
  4. Add it to a compatible MCP client and test a question answered by your docs.

The URL follows this pattern:

https://docsio.co/api/mcp/YOUR_PROJECT_ID

Available tools

search_docs finds relevant content, get_page reads a page and list_pages lists available pages. The server reads the published snapshot and excludes draft or unlisted content.

Publish after editing if you want the new information available through Reader MCP. A locked or unpublished site cannot use this endpoint to bypass access restrictions.

Sharing and disabling

Share only the Reader MCP URL with visitors. Never share an Author MCP token as a public connection. Turn off the reader feature in settings when you no longer want it available.
