MCP for readers
Share public documentation with readers using AI tools.
Reader MCP lets a visitor's assistant look up answers directly in your published documentation. Use it when readers already work inside an MCP-capable tool.
Enable and share
Publish the site, open Settings → MCP, enable the public reader server and copy the connection details. Share the Reader MCP URL, not a private Author MCP token.
Test a reader task
Connect a client and ask it to find a known page, explain a documented setup step and list the available pages. Follow the sources to confirm they match the live documentation.
Try a question outside the docs too. The client should not be treated as an authority on product behavior that your documentation does not explain.
Keep it current
Publish source changes before expecting them in the reader connection. Site access and the feature setting are checked by Docsio; an inactive site cannot use MCP to bypass its access restrictions.
